Souper outcome for childrens’ home
In January this year the Church of Scotland’s HIV Programme gave a grant of £5,000 to Lovemore Childrens’ Home in Zimbabwe. The money was to set up a poultry project to breed and sell chickens and eggs to raise funds for Lovemore. The home cares for boys aged from 6 – 18, many of whom are HIV+. The project has proved to be a great success, but would not have been possible without the HIV Programme’s Souper Sunday initiative. It is hoped that as a result of these events church members will become more aware of the many issues surrounding HIV, and that crucial funds can be raised for a wide range of HIV initiatives both on these shores and overseas.
The Church of Scotland’s partner church in Zimbabwe is the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa Presbytery of Zimbabwe.
